SCULPTOR & PAINTER

“Over time, the human figure has become my most important muse and as a source of inspiration, it seems inexhaustible. The development of each figure is motivated by a search for freshness and an element of creative risk. When I begin a new work I’m guided entirely by intuition and the excitement of creating something new”

Eleanor, clay sculpture of woman by Kay Bazzard

“Where the spirit does not work with the hand there is no art” — Leonardo da Vinci

Clay sculpture in the garden

“I absolutely adore this sculpture. Much of my work is inspired by the renaissance philosopher and self-confessed ‘physician of the soul’, Marsilio Ficino. To me, this sculpture is him. Kay has captured a beautifully soulful expression and the pathos and melancholy of a heart placed in his hand. The sculpture is an embodiment of the renaissance idea of us all coming from prima materia, we all are made of clay.”
