Family paintings…..

During the past year I have been giving much thought to my grandparents’ migration and settlement into Aotearoa/New Zealand. They moved from London after the First World War. Depicted in these paintings is the place they settled, St Heliers Bay.

In this series I include elements from my mother’s stories. She was one of the twins depicted here with her parents and siblings

The Immigrants 1921 - depicts the early days of their settlement in Tamaki Makaurau Auckland

A personal memory of the start of the summer holidays cruising the Hauraki Gulf on the boat - circa 1950
